First Aid Kit will release a 7” record as part of Third Man Records’ Blue Series on 18th January 2011. The record will be the latest in a series produced by Jack White and recorded in his own Third Man Studios in Nashville. Previous artists featured in the series have included Wanda Jackson, Laura Marling and Secret Sisters.
The single includes spine-tingling covers of Buffy Sainte-Marie’s “Universal Soldier” (made famous in 1965 by Donovan) and classic blues standard “It Hurts Me Too”, a song much loved by fans of Karen Dalton’s 1969 folk-blues version. It is available to pre-order now via www.thirdmanrecords.com and will also be available to buy digitally worldwide via iTunes.
This, along with news of two award nominations (‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Best Folk Artist’) in the Swedish Grammis tops off a year which has seen the Swedish sisters release their debut album, play sold-out shows across Europe and the US and play their first Australian tour. The band are giving away a free download from their Sydney show earlier this year via www.ThisIsFirstAidKit.com now.
