CONOR OBERST// I DONT WANT TO DIE (IN THE HOSPITAL)
This guy didnt mind the idea of dying, but he just didnt want to die in such an undignified place (as a hospital). He wanted to be out in the desert, under the stars. He told me if he was ever in a hospital that I should break him out. Its a jailbreak song.
So says Conor Oberst of the rollicking, piano-pounding jig that is I Dont Want To Die (In The Hospital), the new single due for release on 17th November via Wichita Recordings from his recently released self-titled album.
Backed by The Mystic Valley Band, Oberst (who has recorded and performed with many bands, most notably Bright Eyes) released his first solo album in thirteen years in August. The album was recorded in Tepoztlán, Morelos, México during the months of January and February 2008. In Tepoztlán, a place known for Aztec Magic and Extra-Terrestrial Sightings, a temporary studio was created in a mountain villa called Valle Místico at the outskirts of town and a special band were assembled consisting of Taylor Hollingsworth (guitar), Nick Freitas (guitar), Macey Taylor (bass), Nate Walcott (keys, trumpet) and Jason Boesel (drums).
